I am extremely pleased to have been accepted into the SWA’s Annual Exhibition in the Mall Galleries in London this year.
My accepted works included ‘Etched Face’ (etching) and ‘Lucht Siúil’ (lithograph). It is wonderful to be a part of an exhibition showcasing women artists work.
The lithograph and the etch were produced in the Leicester Print Workshop which has wonderful facilities providing access to a wide variety of printing processes.
I was very fortunate to have the expert lithography advice of Serena Smith (printmaker/studio technician ) to guide me through the process. I made the marks by layering or dabbing a greasy material onto the stone and used torn up paper to build up / shield layers of tone and eventually a knife to scrap into the stone to make the white lines.
The etch was produced by using a combination of ground applied in a broken fashion to the plate and dipped into the etching acid. I hope to experiment more with this technique soon.
